Just thought I would share a vid of me and my brother at the track. Mine is the orange one, his is the red one. Traction was not very good, I could only manage a 2.12 60' time, but the car still ran pretty good. He has the same basic setup as me, but obviously mine is running better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icglsAZjwx4

Some of the most fun I ever had with my race car was running against my friend John Toomey. Our cars were very close in performance so it came down to the reaction times. There were no prizes but alot of s..t talking, always alot of fun. I would help your brother get his as fast as yours, it will make both of you better drivers that will transfer to your bracket racing in the future. Mike McCarthy

I agree with you, I am definitely trying to get his running a bit better. We are both running 2275 motors w/ 44 idf's, he has an Engle 120 and CB 42x37 cnc ported 044 heads, I have 40x37 AJ sims hand ported heads and an FK8. He is running a 1.5" exhaust, and I have a 1 5/8, so I know that is holding him back. Either way, I was surprised to be running 2+ mph more in the 1/8 based on how similar our combos are.

I believe the differance in performance may be the extra duration with the fk8. I used the same cam in my son's 2275 street engine, he has 48 IDF's , ported heads with 40x35 valves and a turbo blow through system. Which springs does he have on the heads ? Mike

That is an interesting thought, I didn't really think there was a huge difference, but you may be right. I can't remember the exact heads he has from CB, but the ports seemed bigger than mine (wedge ports?). As far as the springs, they are the duals that come with the CB CNC ported heads. I know they are not the LS1 springs. He is getting a 1 5/8 exhaust next, I am curious to see how much difference that will make.
BTW, that was a great video of your car, I have thought about building one so many times. Decisions, decisions...

You could hear the difference in engines with yours sounding a bit more healthier (the higher lift of the FK8 w/ratio rockers and larger exhaust). Nice.

I am building a trans for it right now, but am planning on sticking to stock ratios. I like to drive on the street/highway with it, although a lot less than I used to. It is a tough choice, thats for sure. I always imagined changing only 3rd would just leave a massive hole when you shift to 4th, but it would be perfect for the 1/8 mile. I think if I do it, I would change 3rd and 4th and just live with the reduced ability to cruise on the highway.

Yeah, that is a good option. The less highway use it sees the more I figure I may as well do it while I am at it. What kind of gain in ET did you manage compared to the stock gears?
