we had a big show this weekend here in charleston.  my band played saturday and i decided that the place needed a vw there.  so this morning i got up and did a quick clean up of the 11.90 and the ghia.  i couldn't find anyone to help me take both so i decided that the 11.90 would be more radical and left the ghia in the garage.  when i got there i parked beside my friend's insane truck.  i don't know if any of you saw it on powerblock this weekend but look for it there.  some of the attendants kept asking me 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times.  looks like there were trying to determine the fastest car there.  they all agreed that it was my car but who knows.  here are some pics.  i am going to load a lot of them so i hope it doesn't bog too many people down.

MY FAVORITE:

WICKED VETTE:

this is the write up for horsepower tv on the black truck:

Check out Daniel Dechert’s 12 year restoration project; a 1974 GMC ˝ ton pickup. After his truck broke a crankshaft on the highway Daniel was faced with a decision; crush it or build his dream truck. He wanted a modern looking street truck with big wheels but no lift. It’s got 46” tires, a 582 big block Chevy engine with a Kobelco 14-71 blower that makes over 1500 horsepower, but has be de-tuned to run on the street at @500 HP. The cab was moved back 8” from the front tires, the hood stretched 16” and weighs 100 lbs., the original 8 foot bed was chopped down to 6 ˝ feet, the cab was stretched 22” with no extended cab windows, the frame was stretched 8” and 4” fender flares were made. This is an all steel truck.

here is a pic of me giving someone a ride at the car show.  the police didn't appreciate me going 112 on a side road.

this is my 65 that i sold, bought back, and sold again.  it is now in england.

my 70 and the 65 before it shipped.  still have the 70.

here is the dyno sheet on the orange car.  only 14 lbs of boost.  practically n/a!

with the BRM's.

my n/a drag car.  1915, IDA's, and Superflows.  7.26 in the 1/8th.  5th year on same build coming up.

The orange car looks really cool. Do you have any pictures of the roll bar in it? I want to put one in similar to it. How is it attached to the pan?

it is a ron lummus kit and it is bolted to the pan.  it also has down tubes that connect to the frame horns.  i don't have any pics of it but it is very simple.

Scott, i'm new here so forgive the questions. Is the orange car built on a pan or tube chassis? Ladder bar or stock suspension? And what kinda times will it turn? I am getting really interested in racing a bug.

ask all you want.  pan car.  stock style suspension.  narrowed 8 inches in the front and 6 in the back.  transmission is also raised 4 inches.  it will run mid to high 10's in the 1/4.
where are you located?

not too far from me.  can you make some of the races/shows in NC this year?  the car will most likely be there.

the trailer is great.  tires are back far enough to open the doors and it tracks great.  i usually run 80-90 with it.

thanks man!  i am putting a new clutch in it right now.  while the engine is out i decided to powder coat all of the engine tin.  i also made the rear apron removable.  should be finished in the next few weeks.  waiting on a glass apron.
