No I never got it into reverse, Jimmy was pushing the car backwards to the staging lanes. ;)Actually, I didn't pull the lever and then push it forward so it was 3rd gear instead of 1rst gear. .... DUHHHHHH!!!! This is the first time using a vertigate, and let me say although it shifts like butter, it does take some getting used to.   Well I am taking the car this morning to Roger's so that they can trouble shoot the oil leaking problem.  Might have too much oil in the Dry Sump in addition to a leaking AN fitting.  Glad that it's not too much drama....That's racing. Grin

Hey at least you got to drive it down the track,  Seat time and you will bet at it like school boy unsnapping a bra with one hand  Roll Eyes

more shift time you will be pulling the lever you had driven it all your life. They are great once you get thru the first few times.  I know that when I have used them in v8's it was another race then just shifting an H pattern.   Like rubbing your head and patting your belly.

Best of luck

Congrats to Frank. Yes it did look like we were at a NHRA race  with all the hands working on the car but there is alot going on in that car and Frank is just learning how to operate it all. He does have some of the best instructing him  .. Jimmy Larsen and his family.. Doug Harvey .. Roger Crawford and his guys.
Thank you to the Larsens for their hospitality.
It was a late night  we finally left the track around 11:00 pm. Unfortunately Frank did not have enough fuel to make a third pass. That engine is hungry and sucks alot of fuel. He will have to take a 55 gallon drum to Sac.
The cars sounded awesome and is making alot of power, Frank just needs to get use to it.
Once he get's seat time he will be a competitor. I have a feeling he won't want to drive the wife's car anymore now that the new toy is running.
It was great to see so many from the VW community come out and support Frank... they didn't bring their cars but they were there.
Sorry to see John V. break his tranny again..like Joe M. said ..he has a tranny in the garage for John, just sweet talk the wife. Hope you get it back together for Sac . otherwise I think the DRKC oval will be up there.

Congrats to Hector also with his 5 second run.
Now get a NHRA license and a parachute and play with the Pro Mod boys.

A VW spit the winnings in the burnout contest and took $200 home (sorry don't know his name)
Pete Selders was there. Repairs were done on his car from the kiss with the wall a few weeks ago at Irwindale. He is getting ready for the NHRA sport compact finals at Pomona. Plans are to run quick 16.

There was a red Manx there also (sorry don't know his name or how he did)
There was a coral red rag  (not sure of his name either)

I think overall I saw about 6 VW's running but I was helping Frnak so I missed it all. Someone else know how the guys did?

I will post the clips I took of franks car later on today.
