I've only been able to get one pass out of my car since the last time we fixed the trans so I'm planning on doing a few passes at Irwindale this week just to make sure it's ok before Sac....I'll probably get there early to do 3-4 passes with my new anti-shocker set up.  Grin

Here's a video from Irwindale that Jason Young shot for me a few months ago...It was only my second pass in the car after finishing it and was having problems with my shifter adjustment...but this is the pass where I cut a perfect .500 light

I’m going to try to make it.  I’ve pulled the street motor out of my 67 and put it in the 55. I’m planning on running the 55 at events with the street motor until the end of the year.  If I make it, it’ll be a TNT to get a feel of the 55.  What time does the gate open?  Do they sell fuel?

I'm not sure if they sell fuel but Bert's Mega Mall on Azusa has fuel. People start lining up at about 4 and they start letting people in at 4:30. If you get there early you could get quite a few passes in before it get's too crowded.

Hey Lance...do you or anyone else have a some 6000 msd chips I could borrow for the day...6200, 6400, and 6600's. Last time I went out I lost my little bag with my chips and some jets in it...and I don't think I'll be able to order any before Thursday. I have a 7000 chip in the two step right now and I want to bring that launch rpm down a bit.

Well it appears I'm not going to make it.  While I was going through a precheck late last night, I found the brake pedal would fade on application.  Tried to find a master cylinder (Wilwood) or a rebuild kit, none available locally in the Santa Barbara area.   Cry

Well kids...just got back from Irwindale...I broke the trans AGAIN!!!! Undecided Well, this time it seems like it's the main shaft. I did my third gear burnout as usual and lined it up...as soon as I dropped the clutch...SNAP...then it felt like it was grinding first gear, but not like when the ring/pinion broke...it was more of a smoother grind and when tried moving the car, it starts moving then just starts grinding again in both 1st and 2nd gears. Oh well...I came home and yanked the motor...I'll pull the trans out tomarrow and open it up to see what broke.

We finally got to see Frank's new Pro-Mod car...that thing sounds wicked!!! It was a horse and buggy show out there today with Jimmy Larson out there for support and Roger Crawford with the Heads Up crew getting the car dialed in...I think Franks gonna need a degree in computer programming to maintain this car...LOL. They were hooked up yo a laptop gathering data...and the car hadn't even ran yet. Huh Frank just did some low mph shake down passes to get the feel of the shifter and figure out all the bells and whistles this car has in it.

Hector Urias was also there and finally  ran the 5 second pass he's been wanting...5.98 @ 117 mph...he's usually in the 120's so that car should get deeper in the 5's.

Well it was definitely a test n tune night.  It was really great to have  Jimmy and his family  and his neighbor Darren, along with Roger and his crew (Anthony and Mark) to help me get the car going.  Lance was also a big help in that if it  weren't for him, I wouldn't have gotten in to Irwindale. ( I forgot to get to the ATM, so he lent me $20).  Seriously, Lance was a great help and he was able to get some footage.

I was definitely nervous because the car was soo technical that there were certain procedures when starting the car and turning off the car, that if they weren't strictly adhered to, the engine and trans could be damaged.

It was different having soo many people there to help, that I felt guilty not helping out as much as I normally would.  My job was to drive the car and that's it.  So I was told.

Well  I finally got to drive the car, and the first pass was just a shakedown pass, nothing too crazy.  Everything shifted well and the car felt good.

The second pass, I was allowed to do a burnout and was told that I could get on it.   Grin Grin  Well I did a nice 3rd gear burnout and when it came time to stage and launch, the car just fell flat on it's face.  You guessed it, I forgot to shift out of 3rd.  The vertigate and nerves finally got the best of me.

Needless to say , I definitely felt the power even though I was in 3rd.

The car is definitely a runner, and with some more tnt, it should definitely be a good challenge in the ProMod class. Cheesy Cheesy

No I never got it into reverse, Jimmy was pushing the car backwards to the staging lanes. ;)Actually, I didn't pull the lever and then push it forward so it was 3rd gear instead of 1rst gear. .... DUHHHHHH!!!! This is the first time using a vertigate, and let me say although it shifts like butter, it does take some getting used to.   Well I am taking the car this morning to Roger's so that they can trouble shoot the oil leaking problem.  Might have too much oil in the Dry Sump in addition to a leaking AN fitting.  Glad that it's not too much drama....That's racing.
