Question 1: Is there an easier way to post pics on Cal-Look? Currently, the only way I know is to take the pics, upload the pics onto my computer, download those pics onto Photobucket, then link the photos from Photobucket to here. This is a seriously time-consuming process and a big p.i.t.a, which is why I rarely post any pics. Is there a more streamlined way? Any way to get the pics from my computer straight to here and bypass the Photobucket crap?

Question 2: How do you guys link to other pics on the internet? For example, say Im web-browsing and I see a pic I want to post here. How do I get the pic on here? Ive tried the "cut-and-paste" but that doesnt work.

I just host the picture on my web server and put the img and /img tags around the picture's URL.

Answer 1: That's the only way to do it.  But there are ways to make it easier to get your photos to your host and better hosts with less  hoops to jump through.  Your photos need to be hosted on the internet to be shared.  I'm sure Mrs Red can help you through this  Wink

Answer 2: Right-click the photo and select "properties" then highlight and copy the "address(url)" line and then insert here using the tags

Because the link points to your PC.  You missed the Photobucket step... Wink
Basically, you're calling out directions to your PC, but we can't get there from here.

Thats what I mean Zach, you have to take the pics from your computer and download them to a host first, such as Photobucket. From there you can post here, but its a pain in the kiester. This site isnt like some, such as TheSamba, where you can upload your pics directly to the site.

If you were not already aware, there's an easy way to get around scripts on some pages that attempt to prevent you from right clicking.

Right click on the desired image and when the "warning/disabled/blah blah blah" dialog comes up, move the dialog over the desired pic, left click and hold the OK button on the dialog, right click, and let go of the left button. Voila! - a right click menu will appear.

Images can take a up a HUGE amount of disk space/bandwidth on a server, so I imagine that's why you cannot directly upload images to the CLF (other than relatively small attachments). That said, I can only imagine what kind of disk space and bandwidth that the Samba site is taking up Shocked

As others have said, in order to post a pic (other than an attachment) on the CLF, it must be first hosted on a website somewhere. For VW related photos, I prefer to use the image galleries on the Samba:

Here are some example steps that I've used before (using an image hosted on the Samba)

1) Go to:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=249625
2) Click on the photo to view the original image
3) Select all of the text in the Address Bar of IE (http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/249625.jpg)
4) Right click on the selected text (which is a link to a .jpg image file), and choose "Copy". This copies the link to your virtual "clipboard", and allows you to paste it elsewhere.
5) Create a test post on the CLF.
6) Hit the "Insert Image" button
7) Position your cursor between the center brackets in the "[ img][/img]" tag, right click your mouse, and choose "Paste".
8 ) It should look something something like this (but without the couple of extra spaces that I've added for illustration purposes):

[ img]http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/249625.jpg[/img ]

9) Hit the "Preview" button for your post, and see if the image is displayed.

If they are VW related photos, check out this post.

Otherwise, for images I prefer http://www.photobucket.com - it's free and allows for direct linking of images on other sites (which some other free hosting sites do not). For larger files, such as videos, I use http://www.putfile.com
