It's officially an event!

What?
Dyno Session in the Desert

When?  THURSDAY OCTOBER 4th, 2007

Where?  Silver State Motorsports (located at the LVMS) Dynojet 248C Chassis Dynamometer (Good to 1800HP)

Why?  2 reasons...
1.) For the racers...To tune your engine to the Vegas air and elevation to get the most power out of it for the big race on Sunday!  This is NOT a "go for broke," and "see what the top HP #" is, type contest.  With the PRA finals on Sunday, we are sure this will give you an edge over the competition to run your car consistently down the track.  As we all know, consistency wins races!
2.) For the hot street cars...To give the "street" cars a chance to prove their worth.  Let's remove the OC correction factor and show some real numbers on the dyno!  Put up or shut up! Grin  This one will be a shoot out!

Who?  25-30 slots are open for participation.  We are reserving 8 of them for invitation.  Other than that, it will be a first come first served basis.  Your non-refundable payment of $50 covers your entrance fee and reserves your spot.  To reserve your spot, contact Scott @ 702-845-1021.
There will be plenty of room for spectators, and ton of fun for all!  Rumor has it that we will see some big name racers on the Dyno!  Could it be?  Stay tuned to find out who!

We will have prizes, food, and FUN!  "Fun" is the key word here.  This is a low-key, fun event, not focusing on competition.  We want to give the racers an opportunity to get into town early, test their car on the dyno, relax on Friday, run their cars at the TNT night, and then kick ass on Sunday!

However, for the "street" cars, we are planning on running a morning competition for some way cool, one off, trophies being designed by Bill Tsagrinos on his water jet machine and other (yet to be determined) dontated prizes from the VW industry and Vegas businesses!   Shocked

...And just to make it fair, I'll keep my 60 HP 87 Ft lbs of Torque "Monster" off of the Dyno for you! Grin

Let the games begin! Wink

Scott Faivre

(This event is being joint organized by Scott Faivre of www.German-Pride.com and Bill Tsagrinos of www.vegasvolks.com)

Man, I guess nobody checks this new Events board.  This thread has only been viewed 6 times in the 4 days it was moved here.  The other threads aren't getting much exposure either!  I guess it will just take time for everyone to get used to the new format.

Hey Guys,
Next week I will be on my Spring Break from school and I will be devoting some time to drumming up some sponsorship for this event.  If anyone is interested in donating cash (as little as $25), gift certificates, or other prizes, please contact me.  We are also looking for a TITLE SPONSOR for the event.  If we can get a title sponsor, the entry fees will be reduced, or even removed! Shocked  Did someone say FREE? Grin

I'm going to meet with Bill this weekend and we're going to iron out all the sponsorship details and what you will receive for your level of sponsorship.

Thanks!

Sounds Good Troy!  It would be good to see you again!  If you're interested in "throwing in a little something" just let me know.  I'm going to be working on some promotional flyers and such next week.

Thanks!

Okay, not much progress to update you on at this point, but...

Tom Carsten, who organizes and puts on the Fremont St show on Friday will give FREE entrance to any of the race cars that attend the Dyno Session in the Desert.

A few racers have contacted me about donating some T-shirts to the collection of prizes we want to use as door prizes, and Troy Sellars of In Range Inc, has stepped up and became our first financial contributor to the prize pool and threw in $100.

Again the money is going to be used to get some of the needed items for the event.  Bill and I are still looking for a title sponsor, and are working on a couple of local casinos to cough up some rooms & dinners to use as prizes.  If we can get a title sponsor, we maybe able to make the session at NO cost (free) to the participants!

If you know of anyone that would potentially be willing to sponsor the event in part, or as a title sponsor, please have them call me!  702-845-1021

Thanks!

Scott Faivre

Nice meeting you Scott this past weekend. My wife is jazzed about this dyno event and wants to make this a mini vacation. I would like to do one (S/C 10.90) pull and another pull using the NOS from 5K to 6K, (132 MPH).

Let us know about the confirm date to say ya or na, but it looks like I will be there.

Bob,
That sounds great!  This is exactly why we wanted to give people notice months in advance to budget their vacation time and their $$$.  People take off a week to attend the Classic each year, why not take a couple of days to have some fun in Las Vegas? Grin
I've got 3 more invitations that I need to mail out (as the remaining 3 were not in Phoenix).  If you have any further questions or need clarification, shoot me an email or give me a ring.  (702-845-1021)
Thanks!

In case you didn't listen to last week's VolksCast Radio...

Eric Calabrese with the "The Red Baron" and Scott Fetherhoff with his blue turbo 56 chop top revmaster 3 liter have also committed in addition to Robert Hemphill aka "TurboBob".

I hope to have news of the other 5 "invitation only" spots within the week!

THIS WILL BE THE LARGEST COLECTION OF VW HORSEPOWER EVER ASSEMBLED - ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!!!

There is an official Dyno Session in the Desert webpage up now and under development at German-Pride.com.  Check it out and check back often as the street car shootout portion should be up by Wednesday of next week.

Another VIP "Invitation Only" has been accepted and confirmed!  I also spent some time updating the Dyno Session in the Desert webpage yesterday.

All of the VIP's that have confirmed to date are listed.  I have added the street car shoot out lists as well, but I have not begun to accept registrations for it yet.  The registration form was completed last week, I just need to upload it.

The Dyno Session in the Desert will be the Largest Collection of VW Horsepower EVER Assembled!  Grin

So that's right!  Pat McDermott will be at the Dyno Session in the Desert!  He's a bit away from returning to the track, but he has set the Dyno Session as a date to fuel his rebuild efforts.  Can't wait to see the new and improved car there Pat!

Just to prove that last statement, take a look who is the latest VIP to accept his invitation!  Grin

I hope the Dyno can handle the thrashing all these guys are going to throw at it! J/K LOL! Grin
