YES turbo cars can be street cars,,

Its just that put the hair dryer on and you better be fast,, or you not anything. I havnt seen many 11 to 13 second street cars none turbo that run some miles on them!!

WHAT WAS THE BET FROM JAMES TO DRIVE BACK FROM THE DYNO!

I know that John Hens would ,, cause he did last year,, I might do it too just to prove the point

Run your car 150 miles then run 3 -  11 second runs.......

It will be fun , got a neat window sticker, says" Proven Under Load, Driven on the Road" *Pretty neat, designed by  professional artist.

Sticker $5 , cruz is free! Car making the most HP on the dyno, buying a sticker, and making the drive gets 100 bucks, myself EXcluded .
I.E. someone is going to win 100 bucks.

I plan on bringing out my 63 anyway and parking it in the show area. But I wouldn't be too crazy about running an 18 second quarter mile time with a stock motor. Not enough for me.
I am definatly going run project drag baja in Pro class though.

Hey Kathy, are we still having the Holiday Inn as our host hotel??? Do we need to mention any VWR codes or anything??? I am going to make me a reservation asap because I nearly missed out on a room last year.

dave's digger is down .dont think he will be there. and he dont fit the picture  to loonngg.as for the lee brothers, well you better take them out first round.they do red light sometimes Smiley .as for dune buggy dale. for him to run the racers will have to vote him in/out.wonder if i can get a car ready for this class?by march hmm  where is steven?Huh?

Thanks Keith. I don't know though, if the Lee Brothers show up I'm in trouble. Or even David Grayson for that matter. Bad @ss vehicles there even if they are not street cars. Dunebuggy Dale is doing a bunch of work to his too. He's definately one to look out for next year.

Kevin, I need to call the Inn today. Will do it and get back with you with the information. That was a lot of fun at the hotel last year.

We NEED SPONSORS!
So far we have Inrange and Jake Raby in for $300 a piece. Ann and Kurt at Vintage Performance will be putting something in, but not sure yet.
Remember, all the money will be put toward the street challenge race only. Keith and I will also contribute some to it.

Have you thought of asking a local VW dealer to help out? Give them free entrance to all employees, give tem a booth in a good spot, let them display some new cars under a tent and hang up a few banners?

Yep, been there done that! They screwed us last year! Said they were going to pay for trophies, so we placed their name on everything, including the trophies. Sent them a thank you, with t-shirt, plaque and bill. Never could get anything out of them! Don't know if I will try them again this year.

What a bunch of jerkoffs! No other dealers or such near by?  How about geting some money upfront?   What about asking the track about some of their sponsors and those of which are GOOD sponsors and trying to get something from them?  Maybe a speed shop, company or such or place that deals with cars? Part of the deal could be them bringing 2 or 4 cars and  outleting them go down the track infront of the crowd.  Just some ideas

Those are some great ideas. Haven't thought about the dragstrips sponsors. Trying to get some local sponsors for the show itself, which is not an asy task! I am going to look around and see if any other dealership would like to be involved. May even try the same ones, they may have changed managers. I did tell them to bring some cars out, but they forgot! They did it one year though and said they had a good time.

I hope to get some more local sponsors and dealerships for the rest of the shows. But there is just so much time and so much to do!!!!
Thanks for the heads up Kylon

No problem Kathy. I know Cephus did that with Cherry Hill Imports for the Atco NJ Punchbuggy show and had them bring some cars out, a booth, had a manager host a tire toss contest and even had a female employee in the bikini contest.
You also may want to try giving them 1 or 2 FREE entrance/tech cards and having them run their dealer vehicles in the street class. I am sure employees would love that....(make sure they have a magnetic sign with the dealer name on it though for exposure  Wink )
Just need to find ways to get them involved so they FEEL as if they are geting more 'bang for the buck' even if it doesnt nescesarily help them sell THAT many cars or what not....but it is exposure. And if they have a web site be sure to post that on flyers, handouts and all banners you put up since A LOT  of people visit a web address and like to preview cars and such.  And if it comes down to making racers run a decal for the dealer or shop...I am sure they wont mind. I would run a small 4x6 or so sticker if it meant I had a place to run or someone was paying  the payout.

Also not to keep throwing stuff out there but...is there an Air Force or NAVY base around the track? Say with in an hour?  If so what about bringing down 100 or tickets and trying to recruit some fans? It may be a stretch but will give some an activity to get off the base on a Sunday. Maybe that idea was to much...haha

Hope it  works out for you and hope to be able to make it down to some races this year

Not a problem Krylon! I appricate the comments.
In fact there is a base nearby, right James. But I am not to sure about how to go about getting some of them out.
Maybe James can assist in getting some local sponsors I haven't thought of. Huh James???

Not only that, put a "hair dryer" on your car try to blast it and see what happens.  9 times out of 10 if you don't know what your doing or have help you'll detonate.  not many 14 year olds know better.

If you plan to come and race in the Street Challenge at Silver Dollar, lets go ahead and get those Pre-registrations rolling in.
$20 for pre-registration and $25 day of show
All money collected from registration will go towards the Street Challenge.
If you wish to enter our regular bracket classes, you may do so also. We will be running the Street Challenge during our time runs.
All informaton can be found at http://www.sevwa.com/streetreg.htm

So far we have $600 going towards the Challenge, thanks to INRANGE and Raby's Aircooled.
Anyone else want to help sponsor this? Let us know ASAP.

I'll never laugh at one with an over the top car thats not worried about taking it out and beating on it. Hey I still gotta make it on the cruise and make 3 runs.

Remember last year I clicked off a 12.60 at 98 mph and car never got better. 3rd pass was a 13.44 at 94 mph. Hopefully I've got that problem fixed!

Putting my registration forms in next week, both for the Dyno Day and Street Challenge.  Not many changes to my car, except it's lighter still, so I will have to add weight again this year!  Dan, it still has the flat black paint, so don't keep the flat black cars out, please!  I came last year knowing my car was no where near fast enough to keep up with the top guys, but still finished 3rd.  Again, I'm just coming to have fun!  I'll let all the "fast" guys fight over the money and bragging rights!  11.40s???  I doubt it's an NA car, and, I've never seen a VW street car that weighs 1800 lbs, can go 30 miles and make three sub 12 second 1/4 mile passes, hair dryer or not and not break (stir, stir)!!

Vintage Performance just bumped the purse for the Street Challenge to $1000!  Shocked
Thanks Ann and Kurt!
Now remember, your entry fees go towards the purse too,so it will be over the $1000 mark. The more we have to enter, the more you get!

Would also like to thank Troy Sellers and Jake Raby for helping make this purse possible for you all!

It all sounds a bit lame, we have cars over here that drive 150 miles to the track, run 10 zeros all weekend and then drive 150 miles home, 11's in a proper street car are tooo easy!

Wimpin' ?  As I recall it, it took some doing just to have an engine in the car at all.  Anywho, we'll see who's wimpin' this year!  Maybe we'll just ban flat black cars with Georgia plates?
