Hope to be there. We are finishing some new billet heads and some much better (from the previous 180 tensil to 250 tensil) head studs. Last year we snapped all 6. Just goes to show what nitro can do.Some people who know little about nitro think tuning it is not too hard. You break a lot of parts in the process. That's why there are no 4 cyl motors running it. Nobody has built the motor that can contain it. BRE has worked very hard to do just that.Even the top fuelers who run the NHRA tour and tune these nitro motors every week break parts almost every run.Their belief is that if the motor is not hurt by the time you hit the end of the run, then your not running it hard enough.Even with a poor run last year we still ran a 4.42 (1/8) which was better than the record. Can't say as I heard anything about that being a world record pass although it was. Just couldn't back it up. Oh well, that's racing. We keep trying. Kiss

I just got the information from the track and haven't had a chance to place it on the website.
There will be camping at the track Saturday night. There are bathrooms there, but no showers or hook-ups. There is an event that evening at the track and If you arrive early, you better plan on paying the gate admission for that event. Otherwise, they say it will be over by 9:30pm. Then you can come on in and we can get you in your spot for Sunday.
When times get closer and anything changes, i will let you know. If you would like mine or Keith's cell number to call before you head out, then just send me a PM. That is what we usually do with all our vendors that want to come and set up the night before.

Bill, Welcome! I wouldn't worry too much about the naysayers. YOU are an innovator to this sport. I understand the power of nitro and the difficulties in harnessing said power. Please keep doing what you do and show the world that your engine is the baddest. You will get that record and you deserve it.

I'll be there! I am so excited. I made my hotel reservations as soon as Kathy posted it on the sevwa site. I remember last year I like to have missed out on a room so you guys better make reservations quick.
I will be running my drag baja in Pro class. Yes its a baja, but not your typical play in the mud baja, more of a play on the strip baja. I just gots to be different. I figure if people are out there drag racing with rail buggies I might as well race a baja.

Bill I can't wait to just hear your motor run. You should've heard the people standing behind me last year asking each other, "are you sure thats not a V8?" My hat goes off to you guys. Hopefully the stronger head studs will let her hold together.

If you haven't made your reservations yet for the Holiday Inn in Perry, better do so fast!
They have already used the 50 blocked rooms, so if you call be sure to mention code VWR for the rate. I will be talking to the Manager when she gets back in this week and be sure that everyone with that code gets it for the price mentioned.

No problem Kevin!
Called the hotel today and they still have rooms left, but they are filling up fast! Make sure to call and mention code VWR to get rate.

BRE WILL be there and will be doing some testing on Saturday at the track.

It looks like we will have maybe 8 or more Pro Stocks in attendance as well.

If you plan to enter the show, please send me an email to get you the $5 for pre-registering, otherwise it will be $10 at the show.

Kathy,
If we send an email for pre registering a show car do we pay the $5 now or at the show???

Also, just out of curiousity, how do the race payouts work? Say if you win in your class, do you get the purse $ then or does it all add up and get added to any points earnings etc??? I've never really understood it.

Glad to hear there will be a good many Pro Stock cars there, I always enjoy watching them run.

Thanks,
Kevin Alexander

Thanks Dan for answering that, he is correct.
If you have a show car, just send me an email with your name and what kind of VW plus the class, that way I can go ahead and get it in the books. Then you can pay me when you get there.

Just a note to let everyone know. Some have heard about tornados down here in Ga. Well I called the owner of the track today to check on it. Everything is good there, they are actually having an event there today, so that should tell you something if you had any doubts. He did say that a tornado did come through about 2 miles south of the track, so there was some damage in the area, just not at the track.

Saturday night---- If you plan to come on down to the track Saturday night, plan to pay a $20 fee per adult to get in for the "Blast from the Past - Nitro Funny Cars - Promoted by Hartman Motorsports" - see www.TeamHartman.Net They will have testing, but the website says $40 for car and driver. This is NOT run by the track, so if you want to come in and park for the next day, better wait until late. They say they should be done by 9:30pm. The track opens at 1pm. I just want you all to be aware of this and not get out there and be shocked.

Also on Saturday, if you are coming down from the North on I-75, Some VW Enthusiast in the McDonough area are having a cruise In at The Sonic off exit 216 on I-75 which is about 50 miles north of Macon at 2pm. Don't forget Dyno Day in Peachtree City also on Saturday March 10th.

If you are racing, please be sure all your safety equipment are up to date
Time Runs start at 11am with 3 time runs, so be sure you are there on time and come to stageing lanes when you are called. We have many classes this time around and we do not have any time to waste.

If anyone has any questions, please let Me or Keith know.

Even though I should really be packing to get ready to leave tomorrow morning, I just thought I would share how my last couple of weeks have gone...
Just before Christmas I ordered my 20' enclosed trailer so I would have it in time for this event.  It came in, in January, but I don't have a truck to pull it with yet so my buddy went with me and towed it for me.  I bought it in NY, but live in Canada, and it was pretty easy bringing it across the border.  I have no where to store it yet, so my cousin put it in his backyard in the country.  I liked my buddy's Suburban that he towed the trailer with so I got him to look for one for me used.  Now we are about 4 weeks away from the event.  He has his eye on a Suburban and his buddy is a used car dealer so they have it under control.  Well, it gets sold for more than they thought it was worth and I have no pulling vehicle yet.  Now we are 2 weeks away.  Go to get plates for the trailer and am informed I need to get it inspected.  But I can't tow it.  So now I really need a tow vehicle.  My buddy's buddy has a full size Chev extended cab short box 4x4 and I don't really want a truck so I see how much it is to rent a vehicle for a week.  About $900.  So I buy the truck- it was a good deal though.  So now I have committed to buy the truck.  This is Monday the 5th.  Pick it up the 6th (was supposed to be late afternoon but they pushed it up and I got it just after lunch).  Go up to my cousin's, oh wait, there's more here.  On Sunday I call my cousin to say I need the keys to the trailer because I am picking it up.  No answer.  He has no cell phone.  Call my uncle- my cousin is 4 hours away working at the Bruce nuclear plant- he's snowed in.  Finally get a hold of him Monday and he tells me where the keys are and my uncle picks them up.  So as of Sunday night I did not have a truck, my trailer was stuck in a field, and I still had to get my '56 serviced.  Anyway, Tuesday afternoon I go up to my cousins and get stuck in the snow going into his backyard.  Get the truck out and make it to where the trailer is.  I get it out pretty easy.  Go to get the trailer inspected and the only guy that does it is off.  Need to come back Wednesday.  But Wednesday I need to have the '56 at the shop.  So I throw another plate on the trailer and load up the '56.  Wednesday we do a bunch of prep on the '56 and I get the trailer inspected.  Thursday (today) get the plates (legally) for the trailer and get raped for taxes on it.  Went to pick up a tonneau cover for the truck 45 minutes away and wait for 30 minutes for them to tell me they don't have all the pieces but they will tomorrow.  I am leaving at 6am, no can do.  No biggie, just have to put the important stuff in the truck.  Nothing loose in the trailer in case it bounces around and hits the car.  Go to pick up my tow mirrors and they are on a 2 week backorder.  Oh well, have to go without.
AND THE KICKER IS.... I am hyped because Pat Downs will be at the dyno event and is going to tune my motor (run a new program, etc.) and he tells me today HE ISN'T GOING Angry  Understandably he has good reasons, but it still bums me out.

So anyway, my buddy Pete and I leave tomorrow morning for the 16-18 hour drive down with all the other Canadians heading down for March break.  I had people calling me today telling me how bad construction will be as well.

Don't get me wrong, I am not upset, I am just sharing my weeks headaches.  I still had to help look after my 9 month old daughter and work my real job through this. BUT I AM HYPED to lay down some good numbers on the dyno and make some 1/4 mile passes hopefully in the 11's.

SEE YOU ALL THERE!  MANY BEERS TO BE HAD ON SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE HOLIDAY INN!!!!!

Greg, I bet you dig deep enough, you'll find more stories similar to yours (though that's a lot of adversity to ovecome).    I'm with James, I'd threw in the towel already.  Up until yesterday, I was thinking one of my back-up plans was gonna be in play, but that's another story...Be careful on the drive down, with the new truck/trailer combo.
