We had a great afternoon and evening!!

We had 8 ACVW's meet in Sanford (yes there is a sanford fl) on Lake Monroe. We decided to meet at the marina. We show up and they are having a hot rod car show. Well they were real hospitable and let us in. We only stayed long enough for all to show up.

We then car-a-vaned about 10 miles to the original Gators Dock side bar and grill. It is locatec on the St Johns river, the only river in the northern hemisphere that flows NORTH! We had a good mix of VW's

1951 split of John Hens, driven by Noet Latour 2275cc
1958 ragtop, mine 2165cc
1969 bug, Gil Comeaus 1776cc
1964 sunroof, Ernesto 1600cc
1963 bug , Ricardo 1200cc
1972 bus , ? stock
1965 bug, Jason 1300cc
1973 bug, Scooter-2110cc

We had a good meal and left for Daytona Beach to crash the monthly Sonic party they have. But, Ricardo locked his keys in his car! THanks to Gil's expert lockmanship he was able to get the car open for him, and informed us that he is part Puerto Rican!! HEHEHE

Welll then we got on the road and drove the 60 miles to Daytona. We had to take hwy 415 to hwy 46 to Interstate 95 up to the south exit to Daytona. As soon as we were getting of I95 the fireworks went off at the Daytona Speedway! They are running the Rolex 24 hour race. It was awesome , having 8 ACVW's cruising by the track and watching the fireworks go off!

Well we made it to the Sonic with no suprises, visited with all and loaded up for the cruise home. We drove back past the track at about 11pm and jumped on the I95 to I4, which we were cruising at about 65 with all in tow. Jason and Ernesto both hi-tailed and ran away from the group.

We made it into Orlando and pass a Highway patrol parked on the side of the road. Well he hits his lights , yes i'm the one thats in front. He pulls me over and ....

He says I have no tail lights , which I proceed to show him that they do work, He then says that those are not factory equiped lights. I say they are and he disagrees. Then asks if the car is factory and I say there are a few modifications. He again asks if the lights are factory? Well he was nice about it and told me to get some brighter lights. Now we had 6 acvws cruising and all pretty close together. Why the heck did he pick me out of the crowd. Ricardos' 6v system can hardly keep the lights lit. and this is a 4 lane hwy into Orlando.
Oh well we all made it home safely.

HEY WHO says you can't drive a HIPO acvw anywhere you want. Yes the solid mounts where loud, yes the 48s hum and gurgle in your ears, but the experience is awesome and unforgettable.

For all of you get out and drive your VW's! My wife even enjoyed the 170 mile trip. No heat, loud car, not the best suspension for cruising. Next time I need to reset the shocks from full tilt drag to cruising. Yes I did take the DOT drag radials off and borrowed Noels centerlines with 215/60 tires, made a big difference inhandling onthe road.

Well to all that attended the memories are priceless and the facial expression of the Hot Rodders at the marina are unimagineable!!!

John's split with a 2275? Why not the 2332EFI?

Hey James,,

Thinkin about the $100. The only problem I have is that they are talking about making us run with fan belt in the dyno! I am concerned about fan problems. If I turn 9000 rpm with a welded fan.......

If you know what I mean!

Mel, your usually always on top of it.  I just figured either you had to work, a sports function with the boys, church, or you have the engine out doing Huh to make it faster!  Sorry, man, but you never forget!!

I've been working non stop on the pool scape in the back yard trying to get it ready for the cookout the night before the March show.

That and some finishing touches to the car for the Dyno day and street challenge.

I got off work about 2:30 and didnt even think about SOnic. Why didnt someone call me.!!
