I would like to get some feed back in regard to the Phoenix Bug O Rama car show / swap meet. If there is something I can do better let me know as I want to make this event very succesfull for next year all of your ideas are welcome and I will do my best to implement them if at all possible. I personnally think it was one of the biggest one that I have attended.
Thank you for your feed back

Less wind would be nice! At least the temps were nice. We can leave that the way it is

Frenchy, thanks for asking. I'm sure that event dates are a tough issue for any promoter when booking a major venue like Firebird. They have lots of things going on every weekend.
Of the 16 cars that "qualified" for the PRA Super Gas class every single car was from "out of state", 15 cars from California and 1 from New Mexico. Note: a few of the cars that did not qualify were also from California. By the time I drove home Sunday night and unloaded my head hit the pillow at 2AM and I have to work on Monday. Troy had to drive to Mexico on Monday morning. I'm sure many others had to drive even further than we did and we passed each other on the 10FWY on the way home.
Having grown up in Phoenix we have attended the Phoenix BOR event since 1984 and look forward to it each year so we can visit family that live in the Phoenix area. We really appreciated the Saturday event dates in the past and hope that you will try to get back to a Saturday event if possible (if date available).
I know you attend the Good Guys hot rod events and Saturday is always at least 25% better attended than Sunday on their two day events. Seems to me that a Saturday date would be a win-win for racers and promoter alike. In any case good to have Phoenix back on the PRA schedule.

I had a few issues Frenchy..
1. Swap meet. Too far away from the gates. People that purchased big items had to walk almost a mile to get to the parking lot. I
2. Car show area - was too small. The cars were packed so TIGHT that you could not look at the cars.
3. The wind - wasn't your fault..

My sugestion for the car show will be to have all of the water cool cars to be parked on the grass area this will elliminate the congestion in the car show area. As far as having this event on a Saturday I can only discuss this with Steve Hole and see what he has to say. The percentage of swap buyers having to walk a distance will have to be looked at. Possibly a separate gate if you are a buyer only. Thank you to all for your feed back on this.

I can attest to the swap walk. After driving 27 hours to get there, and getting cooked all day, that is a long walk for an out of towner who left his swap wagon at home:) All you guys who call the western states home, have no idea how good you have it. My local show, "the big one" swap, show cars, vendors, kids games, everything, could fit in the BOR swap section, either the one in Sac or Phoenix. I hope one day to attend the Classic someday.....Thank you to all the people who put on these shows, no matter how big or small.

As this was the first Phoenix event I have attended, I must agree with what the other guys were mentioning. First off, thanks to you and the holes for stepping up and continuing a Mortensen tradition! There were some minor inconveniences, but overall it was a GREAT EVENT! I'm coming back next year for sure! Things that I mention are meant as "constructive criticism" and not "bitching." I agree that the show cars were so closely packed in there and even in the rows to drive down. As a show car owner, you know how that can make the owner feel nervous. I was there getting event coverage for German-Pride.com and it was almost impossible to get a good shot with the cars being so close in the pavement area. Also, the late comer swap meeters were very far out there that a lot of folks missed them altogether. One thing that I might mention to the track as a complaint is that they really need to open up another couple of concession stands. All day long there was a 20-25 minute wait to get something to drink or to buy a burger. If it was hotter, as it has been reported in years prior, that could become a real problem! AGAIN, OVERALL YOU GUYS DID A GREAT JOB! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I will be back next year! Scott Faivre

Have a shuttle to your house Frenchy so we can see the museum Although I have made my "constructive criticism" known on the PRA forum, I still feel that all involved with these events should be applauded. Promoting an event is not an easy thing to do. Most of the time it is a thanklesss job. You will never please everyone. So thanks Frenchy , Hole Family , PRA and everyone else involved. We appreciate you and all you do for the hobby and all being open minded enough to listen to the feedback.

Post the elimination ladders much quicker... It took forever and dragged the program out way too long.
