So there will be no excuses for the way your car does in Sac. ooooooohh
If I were only taking it to Sac to enter it in the car show, I'd probably do better than I will on the racetrack!

Like I said in another post, I'm just gonna run the 2054 on the motor this time around........don't wanna hurt the little thing with N20, I have plans to return it soon to street duty in the '55 for my wife. As Bug-O approaches, I'm starting to realize the new motor won't be finished in time-- still waiting on parts, the "two weeks" I was promised has long since expired. Anyhow, looking forward to getting a chance to drive it again regardless. Maybe some low 12's?
Anywho, about the show, and without purposely tooting my horn too loud, the Warbird was a hit. Had a crowd around the car most of the day, fielded hundreds of questions from people of all ages, and the car probably took advantage of no less than 200 photo-ops. Even had several parents ask if their kids could take a quick seat in the cockpit while pop's shot a pic. It was great. Taking an old VW (especially a drag car) to a predomintly American classic and rod show is WAY more fun than parking your Volkswagen at a Volkswagen-only event. Its alot of fun just listening to the comments and looking at their faces as they walk up and see something their not used to seeing. Even the older fella next to me with his very nice Studebaker Commander street rod said, "Im stealing his thunder".

I heard all sorts of funny stuff, such as one guy pointing out my "Weber 40 IDI race carbs" to his buddy, but believe it or not, I only heard "Porshe motor" once the entire day!
I didn't win any award, but I wasn't there to win any award. My award comes in the expressions and comments from people who stop to admire my efforts and thousands of dollars. Next event is Bug-O, then to the Hot Rod Jamboree the following weekend-- a local car show that is gaining popularity held every year here in downtown Marysville. The show is a fund-raising event for the UC Davis Childrens Hospital, and is getting huge-- over 300 cars last year. If you live within a reasonable distance to Marysville, come on out with the VW.......its for a great cause.
