What is the best way to convert 4lug disc on a type 3 to wide five?

I don't think the CB ball joint disc by itself will work on the type 3 spindle.

Adaptors?

the pre-72 T3 disc is the same as a Ghia/T1 rotor meaning that if anybody makes a direct replacement rotor (and caliper as it is same except larger pistons) that will bolt to a T1, it will fit a T3. The bore difference is 4mm larger if my memory hasn't failed me again.

The adaptor route would work but is adds a bit to the width and calipers need to be clearanced to clear the adaptor.

hope this helps
