OK I need all the IDA gurus to step up.
I have started "stream-lining" my IDA's and the aux. venturi had casting bubbles near the top opening on the inside. I attempted to file the bumps smooth with a chain saw file with little success. Then I took a drill bit just big enough to remove the bumps and not increase the ID. Well I removed the bumps but it left casting pot holes. What happens to the air flow physics if I shorten the aux. vent. stack below the internal blemishes?
Any ideas on fixing or using what I have?

Consider aluminum brazing the holes.

Good idea. I'll check it out. Thank you,

Be careful, those aux vents melt at very low temps.
Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. Just smooth them out and leave the holes alone.

I had the same problem with my new Spanish IDAs except I had thru holes. Rick Sadler @ Bugpack looked into it for me and found most new auxiliary venturis with the same porosity so he hand picked the best set for me.
