Hi guys,

I'm currently going through the rocker/spring geometry process.

The engine is a 82x94 with a 86c cam, 108 lobecenter.

Heads are Brothers Mid-D with 44x37.5 stainless valves, bugpack titanium retainers, chromoly valve locks and 1.4 rocker arms.

I'm using CB's 650 springs that allow huge lifts, actually much more than necessary in my case. I measured .578" lift. According to CB coil bind with these springs is @ .850. I have therefore the possibility of adding more shims to increase seat/lift pressure.

Installed height in my case is 1.53" with the smallest shim to protect the head casting. At this height those springs deliver 164 Lbs. Is this enough seat pressure for this cam or should I shim a little more ?

It is usually said that for a street/strip engine. duals should be set at 0.09" before coil bing but as I read that CB 650 springs have less spirals I don't know whether this is applicable or not.

Thanks for your input.

Phil
