None of the current Autolinea Cases that I know of can be ordered with a drop cam. The only one's I can think of would be the high end ones, like from Autocraft, Scat, and Pauter. There are a couple othe Aluminum aftermarket cases in the works. They have either run out of developement money, time to work on the project, or are waiting for the competition to release their case, so the can then undercut them with theirs. There was a lot of hype about the other cases, but nothing new has been posted on any of the VW forums for months.

Call Todd Francis @ Precision Alloy 360-887-2000. www.precisionalloy.com His case is very nice. .100" cam drop, and 12mm thru bolts. And it's not really that expensive compared to the new Al cases. Not allot of people know about his case. He markets it to the off road crowd. It's a direct replacement to the type 1 case. And I believe he has them in stock.

As of the end of December they weren't available yet. They were working on the latest revision of the prototypes, and had yet to assemble an engine with one to make sure everything was correct. The last info I read about on the case was that the base price started at $1250. They were working on redesigning the crank bore to eliminate VW bearings, and use a modern replacement. Having the cam drop, ability for cylinders larger than 94mm, and being able to use a bearing that has been used in a car within the last 30 years would be worth $1250 to me. Simply having a case like the current Aluminum ones, with the only difference being a .100 cam drop, may be a stretch for some at $1250.

Hmmmm, I talked to him a little before Dec, and the case he was showing me, he said was the redesigned version, all ready to go. Maybe he is changing it again to accept a better bearing. Now that I think of it, he did mention something about bearings when I was talking to him. I swear he told me the price was around $850.00-900 for the 94 bore case, and the 101.6 bore case was a little more. I guess things have changed.

On a side note, he has been making these cases for years, I'm guessing around 10 years, maybe more? And I know he keeps changing things on the them to make it better. I now FAT Performance used one the early versions in one of their off road cars. I think there was oiling problems with it, but I don't think it was related to the case. And I thought he told me there was a guy using one in a drag car. Crap, I need to listen to people when they talk to me, I can't remember anything anymore.

Give the guy a call, he's a nice guy, he'll talk your ear off.

The last info I read about price, and availability was in a samba thread.
