Please help me with this:

I want to know more about my 2 irs transmissions

1.-  AX  28 10 4  2 side cover
2.-  AW 23 01 5  1 side cover

I found some charts, some say that these chart are useless, probably. I will opened soon or later

I found that ax 3.78 (9:34) 2.06 (17:35) 1.26 (50:63) 0.93 (58:54) 4.375 (8:35) have this gears

but I cant found about aw

both trans came with lsd

questions

1.- what gears came with aw trans, ring & pinion 3rd and fourth gear ?
2.- It is true that if you spin 1 side cv flange and the other flange spin to the same direction the trans came with lsd ?
3.- the irs lsd fits 901 trans ?
4.- where can i found cheap new 3rd and 4 gear to built a drag trans ?

Thanks in advance

Your gearboxes pretty much prove that, don't they?

The AX started life as a swing axle, but someone converted it to IRS.

The AW is a Type 181 gearbox that came from Germany with a ZF diff.
The R&P of the AW is 4.12:1.  The other gears are the same as what you listed for the AX.  The AW also has bigger drive flanges to use Bus size CV joints.

Here's a clue to your question number 3.  Toyota crankshafts don't fit Honda engines.

my 71 ghia has a different  engine then it came with.
the block reads DO836,000    etc the idiot book say this is a 71 era case
12000 or 13000 with 30 HP,   why would they still biuld and engine that small in 71 when the 1600 dual port was standard?  What might it come from?
It certainly doesnt match the original paper work so it was added later.
