So with the oil pressure on my 2110 dropping still now I'm down to about 7 psi at idle and the light flickers every now and then I think its time to rebuild.

I am also moving to Hawaii and taking my car. So there will be no more long drives on the highway at speeds of 75-80 for hours at a time.

I am going to go a little more aggressive. I need suggestions I want to keep it driveable and will still drive it everyday so I cant go 10.5:1 but, I can get it up as close as I can on pump gas without worry.

I was thinking

92MM thick walled piston and a new cam right now I have a DRD special grind. I don't know what it is but its like a K8.

Tell me what you think.  Can I get away with 94mm pistons and a K8 cam with 9:1 C/R and still sit in traffic without a worry?

bowen71,
My 2165 runs very very cool. I run 9.7-1 and use Arco 87 octane. No pining or dieseling at all. I live here in California. Not a problem!
I run Tims stage 2 heads and a Pauter cam. 550 at valve, 268 intake/exhaust.
I think I could have ran a bit higher compression too.

If you going move to Hawaii then you should go to a bug meeting and find out what we stay running and figure it out from there. Things is so different here and that way you no need guess from people saying dis and dat and they no even live here.

Is it different running in Hawaii. I lived there years ago but only had stock engines then.

I do have a friend who just moved back to Cali from Oahu and he said is bug runs stronger here and cooler.

Whats the big difference?

Build a 2180 like mine... you'll love it and it will last a long time.

bowen71,
I would think humidity is the big difference! No need for thermostat and flaps over there. Not sure what is different about the gasoline......

When I first planned mine it was to be a 2180 but at that time AA was the only ones making the thick 92mm pistons. But AA was having issues with the pistons coming apart. I saw a bunch of posts from people saying that they were junk so I went with 90.5's.

Now I'm being told that all pistons are on back order from 90.5-94's. So I may have to wait.

So I found a person to do my rebuild as I am not smart enough or have the tools.   Now I have to decide on parts.

This is going to be a complete street motor never seeing the strip never seeing above 6500 rpm.  It is no crap a daily driver 50+ miles a day 300+ miles a week

I am going to up the CR to 9:1 and bump it up to a 2275 94mm pistons.

CR? should I keep it at 8.2 like I have it so I can run it without issue? Or bump it up to 9:1?

Pistons AA forged or Cast? If I'm not racing this and I never see high RPM or above 180Hp do I need forged pistons?

Cam K8 or FK43? I am happy with the cam I have but, I don't know the grind its a DRD grind cam he says its his #2 cam what ever that is.
Cam gears straight cut? Does it give me anything other than sound?

Oil pump 26mm or 30? I am running a full flow system with a 72 plate external cooler along with stock cooler and a geers filter do I need or want a 30mm pump?

I am not trying to break the bank on this rebuild so I am also looking at price.  I'm really not looking for a bunch more HP with this rebuild I really want easy power and good TQ.
