I built a nice 84x94 engine for my Single Cab that had some nice 40x35 heads, FK8 cam and a pair of 48 IDF's.  The engine ran well and moved my truck great. Grin  I've change plans on some other builds and will be replacing the heads and induction from my Ghia's powerplant to my Single Cab.

The Single Cab's new engine will now run vintage Lonnie Reed 42x37 Wedgeports and a pair of Italian IDA's that have been in the family for three decades.  The truck will be driven for pleasure only (not a commuter).  Cool  As mentioned, the engine currently runs a FK8.  With the Wedgeports the compression will approach 11 to 1 with a somewhat conservative deck height (I will be running the appropriate fuel).  So I'm thinking about switching cam's to the FK10 that I ran with the Wedgeports.

In my Ghia this cam ran smooth and had a power band from about 3700+ (74x94 engine w/5.4" rods).  With the larger 84x94 engine I'll be running 5.5" rods.  My experience has been that larger engines "absorb" the effects of larger cams so with the larger engine the power band shouldn't change much and I might actually see the power band drop a bit.

I'd be curious of what others think.  I already have all the parts and as mentioned will run fuel that matches the engines needs.  Simply looking for input around the cam change and the affects of the different displacement and rod length.

Hi Dave,
I really like dealing with SLR. His xr301 cam with a 106 degree lobe center seam to work well with some of the 2332cc engines I have built. I myself really liked the xr 320 with the 106 degree lobe center. Grin
