I had issues with Mahle main bearings in the early 2000's. I had bearing flaking issues on several drag motor refreshes that had not has bearing problems before. Checked this and that and could not find any messurement issues with the motor parts. Changed over to Silverline and had zero issues with those bearings. Silverline bearings where made in Mexico. I believe Silverline was either bought out or no longer making bearings. My supplier had dried up here. Thanks for the samba link. I have been using german Kolbes when I can find them in drag motors.

Are you sure they're non-steel backed? Brazilian KS bearings that were steel backed were made for quite a few years after the German KS bearings were discountinued. The newer Brazilian KS bearings that are not steel backed just started being offered within the last year, or so. Sellers of NOS German steel backed KS bearings can name their price!
