Please help me with this:

I know that I can't use brazilian gears in german case, what about ring and pinion, I installed a 3.88 ring and pinion on a brazilian case, can I use this 3.88 ring and pinion on a german case or is diferent ?

If I have several rings at my hand how can I know whic ring is 3.88, 4.12 or 4.37 ?

how many teeth I need to count ?

4.12  =  ?
4.37  =  ?
3.88  =  ?

The way I figure it out  is just count the ring gear teeth, count the pinion teeth, and divide them.  Thats the ratio.

ok, thanks

I already have an aftermarket 3.88 r&p on my brazilian swingaxle trans.

Can I use this 3.88 r&p into a garman case irs ?

You can use any Type 1 R&P in any Type 1 case.

However, changing the R&P requires plenty of other parts swaps to make it all work.

My drag car has a 3.88 in an early case.  Actually, my box has parts from about 4 different tranmissions, plus aftermarket parts.  Just have to use  the mainshaft and some gears from the later trans as I recall.  Really going back a while here, but as I recall, I have the mainshaft and ring and pinion from a 76, a case from a 72, (dual side cover with big pinion nut) axle tubes from a pre 66, and I can't remember what else.  Luckily it has held up well so the details aren't fresh in my mind!

*edit, Oh, I just noticed that you are talking about an irs with a 3.88, so my rambling doesn't really apply here, sorry.
