Does anyone know if there is a tolerance for the area between the crank pulley and the case on a dual port type one engine? I have a case here with a oversize pulley hole so the next question is does any one make an oversize pulley?

I have seen one other case with this problem. the solution was to sand seal it and make a special sand seal holder with larger OD on the spigot that goes in the case.

I could have it cut for the berg seal to. One of my friends has the cutting tool but the guy I am working on it for has been told that a sand seal is just a band aid Sad

your only good choice is to cut it for a sand seal. The berg tool can be used with the crank in the case so it centers it on the crank that would be centered by the bearings. If you try centering it to the worn case, it will leak. Nothing wrong with a sand sealed case.

You can pop a press in sand seal in it... Some times they don't fit real tight but that's what Ultra grey is for.... I use one on every motor.... They never give me problems....

Thanks guys, the case hole is to big for a press in seal and the guy for some reason things that a seal is not the fix so I guess I have to switch out the case and hope for the best.

Clinton,

I'm not a sand seal guy either, but if it saves the case, get the Berg tool.

Unless this guy has time and $$$ on his hands, it otherwise seems like a waste.

My 1.5 cents.

Wow! John, 1.5 cents, what you do get a raise? I would love to do that, I have a two friend who both have this tool and explained it in detail that this would be the best way to go but he is insisting that we change out the case.

the easiest fix is to pack the front of the case with a light grease and cut the case with it still assembled. Get a pulley cut, install, and drive it.

the grease is to keep the metal shavings out of the motor. You will need to clean some of the grease out with a small screw driver to make sure no metal is left in there.
