I am installing oil pressure and temp gauges in my beetle but have been told it's not a good idea to use a T-plug in existing oil pressure sender location as it doesn't get enough oil flow to pick up temp.
I don't want to drill drain plug as my bug is lowered, so what are my options?

If your engine has a T3 blockoff on the back of the case that works, though it is better to get it in the oil flow, so I drill the top of the oil filter adapter (assuming you have full flow filtering)

sorry should have said I've added a full flow oil pump (with a thermostat) to a remote filter unit, so is this the best place to install sender, or closer to pump so it picks up hot engine temp.

I'm running a Type III dipstick plate with sending unit. Simple and out of the way.

Yeah, using a T will make it read colder on the gauge.

If the motor is apart, what I like to do is drill out the plug on top of the case just above the stock pressure port. Behind the distributor. And out of harms way.
Nice place if you have it all apart....

I have the VDO sensor that screws in place of the oil press relief plug. You could have a couple of them. One in the case (the case temp) and one in the external filter/cooler somewhere and compare the readings with a switch on the dash.
