Sorry to hear about this Mike.  Was it still running hot? What makes you think it was a rod?  How did it all go down?

Mike,

If a rod hasn't gone through the case, you might be able to salvage most of the motor. I can empathize with wanting to wash your hands of it after all of that heartache, but it may save you a ton of $$$, whether you keep the motor or repair and sell it.
