my old combo for 25years was 78.4x94x5.7 rods and fumio 42x37 and buterfly chambers and 10+1 with E130x1.25s and 48s with 42 vents and stage 2 with airlock and 3in flowmaster. Trans was 3.55x207x1.56x1.13 and 4.37RP and bla bla and 215x65s DOTs at 30lbs air and 90/10s frt and konis back and best time was 21.61 with no burnout in a full body stock 67 bug and it was fun. One bolt on valve cover came off and ran out of oil at 55mph quick and burn bearings and rods. O well. Now my new is 90x94x5.88 rods and squishies C pistons and ultra wedge 46x38 and 11+1 comp. and FK87 with 48s and 42 vents. And my trans is 3.75x2.36x1.56x1.109x4.12RP. So what you figure. I going have some fun with one or what. I going wake up the dead in my neighborhood.

You are a fan of the long rods and short pistons. Got any pics of your engines?

I like to get a camera and take a picture but I mysteriously lost 3. Maybe cuz I have 3 teens in the house and they like to search the house for anything and loose it and when asked about it, all said "it wasn't me or I don't know" so I not getting one for a while.

Wow, thats a nuts combo Kehau. Surprised you are sticking with the 48 IDA's, thought it would have gone to get opened up to some 52's.
I wanted to do the squishies also, but can't find a head porter who has had worked with these pistons.

I asked AC net and he said can with those heads and chambers so I put a mini tootsie roll on the dome thing on the piston and had could be 50 or more clearance for the valve.

With those rods almost 5.9" long and a 90 crank, how wide did the motor turn out to be? Is it wider than your old engine? How much diff did using the C pistons make? I bet it will rev!

Actually, my old engine had 5.7 rods and had 250 space and 40 copper and this one I used the same 250 spacer plus 20 and 40 copper so no big deal. I like the C pistons is because to me if I have a pin closer to the top of the piston and centered it would be easier on the rings and skirts because it would rock less and could be a good thing because of the low rod ratio. I could be wrong but it's only my opinion so I'm trying it. And 30yr old 48IDA's is all I get and it is cherry good.

I got the same opinion from my builder, "the longer the better" and he pointed out other motors like BMW for an example. He told me to be sure to break in my new motor gently for 1000 miles or so, to give it time to coat the piston top and chamber with carbon. It acts like ceramic coating slowing heat from overheating the rings. You prob know that getting 100,000 miles out of your strokers!

It's not that I get 100,000 miles. I just go the distance and check it after and so far a few street/ minor strip engines went the distance with little wear on the bearings. I feel that if you will send the crank out to be checked, mydas well put some miles on it and you can tell a good crank from not that good. Just got to rebuild the heads at about 50,000.
