 I need to replace my plug wires. What is the Bosch plug wire part # that will fit on plugs with fixed nipples? I'm running NGK plugs with fixed nipples, and I can only seem to find the Bosch wires that are designed to run on plugs (ie: stock Bosch) without the nipples. They don't have to be Bosch wires, mind you, but they: - Need the thin, stock heat seals (no giant donuts) - Stock diameter (no 9/10mm fat plug wires that are guaranteed to give me a 25 HP boost due to lower resistance) - No bling (day glow green, pink, blue, striped, polka dots, etc.), and should be black or gray. Part numbers appreciated. Thanks, in advance. JP |

John,
You could find just the spark plug connector and swap on the standard Bosch wires.
What plugs are you running that you can not remove the nipples?
NGK BP6ES for 3/4"
NGK BP6HS for 1/2"
Both have removable nipples.

NGK 4930 (BCP6ES). I tried and tried but could not remove the nipples. And even if there is some secret, they are staying on because in order to access the plugs I have to remove the manifolds and IDAs.  The weird thing is that the current Bosch plug wires have the larger connectors and fit the nipples fine, with no modifications, but the part numbers are worn off. The problem is that I believe I have a plug wire short (having ruled everything else out). Art wasn't surprised, as he told me that there was a bad batch of Bosch wires around the time that I bought mine (not from him), and he has had to replace a few sets at his shop. Because of this, I'm reluctant to swap the ends onto new wires. J |

Interesting... the C indicates 5/8" instead of 11/16". I'll have to try them next time.
I looked at a few pictures on the web and they should unscrew.

I have the upper body strength of 6 year old school girl.
A nice, skinny plug that works well with fat, short DDS manifolds.
And the nipples are staying on.

I have a set of standard "lifetime" Bosch plug wires on my VW that have been great for the last 8+ years. The "lifetime" Bosch plug wires on my BMW only lasted 3 years. The coil wire went first, then the one for cylinder # 2. Go figure.
Both cars run Bosch plugs (the BMW uses WR7DC).

I got some wires like you describe 'Aurora wires' from http://www.lightningwires.com/index.phpblack, standard shroud seal, ends for plugs with nipples, slightly bigger than stock dia, but still clipped into the fan shroud clips. John at aircooled.net might have them too. |

John, back in the 80's a mod that some of us did was to locate some Type 3 ends and fit them onto a set of quality wires of your choice. They are a 90 degree end and fit any standard distributor cap. I've got a set somewhere in my stash if you'd like a picture of what they look like.

Thanks for all of your replies. David - I remember running those Type III 90 degree ends myself in the 80s. I attached them to my clear-ish/green distributor cap that glowed at night with the engine running. Well, at least the plug ends were cool. Actually, the pink wires photographed above would have been the pièce de résistance In your application I will replace the bosch cables, to new beru original cables
