Guys on my new sandrail build I don't have a huge amount of room for a battery. I could squeeze in a car battery, but I have noticed that motorcycle batteries are much smaller and the cranking amps seem pretty good (just not the cca).

Is there a motorcycle battery that will start a high compression 2332? I don't have much for accessories. Just a pair of 50w lights and tail lights. Small electric fan (off a large 4 wheeler), and MSD box.  Battery would have to start the engine when it is warm also. I have one of the bosch mini starters.

Not really wanting to shell out for optima unless I have to.

I use a garden tractor battery from NAPA. I can't remember the part # but it fits in the small black plastic marine battery box. Starts my 14 to 1 CR drag race motor every time! I can find the part # if your interested.

I may have to try that, those batterys are pretty small. IS a lawnmower battery as powerful as a motorcycle battery?

Take a look at Odessey batteries from Summit or Jegs. Small, light and plenty
of cca's. Mine has been in my car for 6 years with no charging system. I top it off
between rounds in about 5 minutes. Great battery. Not cheap.

Since the motorcycle batteries are smaller, you could mount one on each side of the buggy to balance the weight and wire them in parallel to get the extra amps.

The NAPA battery is part # 8229 but can be bought with the posts in different locations. It has 365 CCA and cost $45. Turbo Start batteries has a garden tractor battery that has 400 CCA but I don't have a dealer near me so I went with the NAPA battery and have had no problems at all.
