I just bought a set of Ansen mags for a new project.  These wheels use the mag lugs and associated washers, no acorn/bevel on the wheel and lugs to index the wheel to the brake drum.  I assume that with most aftermarket mags (non-vw) you would use the hub to center the wheel on the drum (hubentric), but I don't think this is possible with VW style drums.  So what do I use to index/center the wheels?  Are the mag lugs made with tight enough tolerances to accomplish the job?  I was thinking of having the Ansens slightly countersunk at a machine shop, and then looking for a conical washer to use with the mag lugs to help center the whole setup (I think Ercos use something along these lines)...am I over thinking this?  What do you recommend?

Most aftermarkt wheels that I have seen that take those mag style lug nuts, are a pretty tight fit into the wheels so they center up pretty well on their own. No need for special washers.
I run a set like this on my Turbo street sedan for more than 5yrs now.
