I am stuck here on the east coast with no vendors and no other VW guys (under 60) to help me out (since all VWs rusted away 20 years ago) Soooo I need some help with me cal-looker project.

I have a 65 bug that I am going to put some drop spindles on and I want some light wieght wheels to street and strip duty (see pic).  I want the skinniest rims I can get up front and the widest I can get in back with modding shtuff. (stock beam/fenders, ect)

Are the BRMs pretty light?

How about the polished radars?

I would really like some on those pain Jane (no rivettes, flat, deep lip in rear)  polished drag rims that I see on the Ocean Street videos but I dont who makes them or where to get them.  They look like the same wheels that they sell for sand rails to me.

Thanks for your help

Where on the East Coast are you?
I think the wheels you're talking about are Erco's. Do a search here...there are several threads about them.

VA.  I will be on the hunt at the big Bugout at the end of the month

Yes Erco's are nice but no longer made right?  Is Serrano's making them now?  The fronts in this pic below are nice but I have seen some that are flat which I like even more...

Call CMS directly!

562-696-2758

Thats who I got my rims from!!  They make the haves for ERCO!  They have light weight and standard. .125 is light not recommended for street and .190 for street!

We should have a Richmond area get-together. Sorry for hi-jacking the thread.

Anyone running those CMS aluminum wheels?  I see those in HotVW but they look like that may be for rails.  I was wondering if the offsets would work with stock beetles and if they were tough enough for street duty...

In my opinion, you cannot go wrong with Centerlines, light weight and strong with the old school look!

I "THINK", if my memory serves me correctly, that the factory 4" , 4 lug steel wheels I have for the front of my '68 weighed 7- 9 lbs. each. They are pretty light, but stock, just not custom. Many people overlook the factory wheels when looking for a "light" wheel, and then end up with something heavier.

Stock steel wheels are up around 14lbs.

Centerlines are fairly heavy compared to ERCOs.  They are a lot stronger, though.
You can get them from CIP1.com, they are a centerline distributor.

Yeah, it's been a while, I'll have to double check the 4" set tonight.
