I was driving the Laser yesterday and lost a keeper on #1 intake valve Huh just gave a buddy a ride to show him how a REAL 1641 should run Grin I shifted into 3rd @ 5k, ran great took him home, got about 5mi down the road Taking it easy, oil temp 180, It started to miss, I stoped and check to see if I lost a plug wire? they were all on, stared back up and drove it could 'nt get it over 2k Huh down sifted to 3rd and stomped it Roll Eyes clackkity clack!!!! valve was hitting the piston Angry Shocked pulled ove in a grassy clearing and popped off the 1/2 valve cover and all the pieces were lieing there, pushrod jammed under the rocker arm, Roll Eyes ::)I think I bent a push rod??and then all hell broke loose? purdy sure ther stock alum rods ,Specs are: W110 cam HD springs stock retainers and stock heads, bolted rocker shafts,CW crank, lite flywheel and 6lb pully,40 idf's,about 100 miles on this fresh build,I'm dolly'in it home this morn and pulling it out today, Hopfully I didn' bend the valve or worst= lighten the piston Grin If this is the only breakdown this season I'll be happy Grin So should i get some Moly push rods for this Daily Driver??Madmike

I'm sure you have solid rocker shafts. If not their a must, along with good pushrods.

Yepper, solid shafts,Tore it apart yesterday, push rods are OK, found a broken spring Shocked And  I don't think they were made in China, I got these in 1976 Grin had them in my Score 1/2 1600 Buggy for one season, maybe 500 miles,I think it was just a fluke it broke,Who's single springs are good for an occasional 5k-6k RPM's Huh madmike
