Today while removing everything from my '69 ghia's pan, I noticed that there were no front calipers. The question is this should I find stock front calipers, or upgrade?? This car will have a 2275 engine, and all the original body parts (heavy). I don't know what is available in regards to bolt ons in regards to the braking system. What would you do???

Pretty much all the aftermarket disc kits for the front use ghia calipers. Good bang for the buck. No reason to use anything else unless you're after weight savings.

I put ghia disk brakes on the front of my '68 beetle this past weekend. Some way or another I lost one of the pins that hold the brake pads in the caliper. They're the late caliper with two pins per caliper. Anyone know where I could get buy just the pins? I've been looking everywhere and can't find someone who just sells the pin(s)?

I was looking at the kit that is available from ACN. It has the calipers, rotors, bearings, and it has dropped spindles. I plan on dropping the front any ways so this looks like a good deal for me. I'll still need the backing plates. Anyone out there have a nice set they are willing to part with???

Ghia(others kits) Dropped spindle kits have a caliper bolt pattern of 2.200 inch on center... I believe...What calipers will fit that besides the Ghia calipers?  |

Going through this right now. Droped spindals will add width to the front track, forcing the tires outward. This makes you look at a narrowed front end. Sorry pics are not available as of now due to limited time and budgets. If the discs are fented that will add to the stopping power/and resistance to brake fade. There are good kits out there by many supliers. Do your reaserch. Hot Vws did a narrowed install, in the last year or so, on a Ghia.

Oh, and I thought I'd add, I have Ghia discs/stock drums on my '70. Running upgraded pads up front and Kymco Better Binders out bak and it's an AMAZING difference from stock. All you should ever need unless you're doing some autox'ing or something.
