Hey guys,
Ok, so I am to the point where I need a new stand now for my motor. I have the newer doghouse shroud. Which stand do I need? I know some are taller, shorter, or don't let the alternator site far enough back.
I want original VW, is there a correct part number I can go by?

Thanks

1. you have to look for used German alternator stands. they have the small clearance for alternators. these came in late germa dual ports, i dont think they sell new German stands anymore.

2. i think CB sells OEM Mexican stands, but they may have the bend behind for the original Mexi manifolds.

2. i would advise against aftermarket stands.

3. you can actually grind a generator stand to use with alternator. done it before.

pupjoint,
Thanks! I need to find one. I will only go with a real oem German one.
Thanks for the info! Any certain part numbers on it to indentify the model I need?
      Thanks

they are quite easy to find in my part of the world, south east asia, not sure your part of the world.

you may need to look at the local wreck yards or Samba.

The newer VW one that cb performance sells looks pretty sweet! I did not realize it has a built in baffle and o-ring seal! Nice, but not cheap at 35.00!

i dont think so, never tried. but the berg breather needs the screw on insdie the stand and also needs the small dimple on the oem style stands, i doubt the breather will work on Mexi stands
