Hey guys.

Back again.
Finally got my bug back from body shop, with new paint.
Slowly putting everything back together.

I have a question about the gas door pull handle (1970 vw beetle, gas release handle on the inside, passenger side, attached to the metal under the dashpad).

I bought a new cable (the car didnt have an old on installed at all, so I couldnt get a hint about it when I tore the bug apart).
I bought a new handle (black plastic one).

I just dont see how I can attach the handle to the cable end.
The cable end is hexagonal.
The handle seems to be hexagonal, with maybe threads inside that?

Is there a third piece that I am missing? Something that screws into the handle, and attaches to the hexagonal end of the cable?

Thanks for any info.
I am really stumped on this one.

By the way, I have #1 and #5 in this pic:

Hmmmm.
Nevermind.
I just read on another site, that it is just supposed to screw in.
And it doesnt have any threads on the cable at all.
But, it screws to the spring?
Seems to work.
Who knew?

My car has a 1971 body.  The fuel filler flap uses the screw-on handle which simply screws onto the spring-type cable.

You can see the cable here

Yep.

It just screwed into the spring itself.

Thanks.
