I have a set of 4 lug rears w/ e-brake waiting to go on right now.  It's pretty much the same kit everyone else is repacking and selling, maybe not as complete depending on who's doing the repack.  As far as I know, the only actual EMPI part is the caliper bracket and it looks OK, 1/4" cad plated stamped steel.  Not as pretty as CBs, but totally functional.  The rest of it is the same generic stuff everyone else uses in their non-custom setups.  --Ryan

Cool. For $425 for Wide 5 fronts and $3?? for Wide 5 rears, they're a steal. I'll probably wait a little while before I order them though, see if there are any horror stories or anything. lol.

I was also wondering about the quality-seems like a great deal:

Personally, I would never trust anything that my life's well-being depends on if it has Empi/Mr. Bug stamped on it anywhere.  I've had enough problems with their non-essential parts.

They are Varga calipers. i have installed over 10 Empi kits. the only mod ive ever had to do is on the rear wide 5. I had to lightly touch up one e-brake cable boss on the caliper so i could get the e-clip on. sometimes you have to shim the rotor to center it in the middle of the caliper bracket. one time the rotor was touching the caliper bracket and i had no shims in it, but it was an odd ball size axle spacer causing the problem. for an aftermarket vw part, its pretty much a bolt on deal, which is very rare. And you cant beat the price.

does sound like a great deal but after all the crap i've seen from empi... on even stuff that wouldnt seem to be a big deal goin a little cheap... i would spend my money once and pay justa lil more for some cb brakes. just my 2 cents. they might not be too bad.. but cbs are probably only 75$ more and cb rep is still good..

Cheap prices is what keeps Empi/Mr. Bug in business and crappy parts in the VW aftermarket.

i don t they those are 0 off set if i'm right, a.c. industries is the only ones who have the wide five fronts with zero offset. the thing with them is you can use them with dropped spindles.
