So the plan is to take a drive from California to Florida for the Winter Jam in February 2011. I will drive my 2276cc turbo fastback and Robert Kong will drive his 11 sec 12:1 squishy Ghia. So will any one else join us  for the drive? Maybe cruse along the way with us? Thinking of taking the 40 most of the way and cut down once in Memphis, any shops along this path? Love to stop in and say hi! What about drag strips? Would be cool to try and visit all or most of the strips along the way! In 2006 on the Berg cruse we stopped at most of the VW shops and some local attractions! That was nice as some of the shops had open house/BBQ for us and there local customers cars on display. Grin

That's hard core, man!  In the age of cruise control, heated seats, satelite radio and factory GPS, a drive from So CA to FloriDUH in an ACVW is hard core!  I'm sure you guys will have a blast, and will have memories for a lifetime.  Have fun!!!

hey A.J. i remember when we spoke about doing this trip on the phone years ago but i thought it would have been to N.Y.. will be a great trip for sure take lots of photos and try and post them here on your way. i think Kawells shop is in Tennesse maybe that would be a good stop. to bad you couldn't link a camera on you car somehow so we can share the experiance where we could link up and watch your progress. and let you know when your dozing off at the wheel or when your being bad racing some european sports cars like cannonball run. lol. good luck on your trip and hope you have no break downs.

Type 3's are actually quite comfortable. I wouldn't mind taking my 2160 EFI turbo, once the injection issues are sorted out so that I have confidence that it will make it more than 2 blocks without freaking out. Man that's gonna be a cold trip for much of the way without heat!
