Hi peeps i set my solex 34. pict4 carb up beutifully the other month but the past few times peeps have driven behind me they have said they can smell the petrol, and i had a quick whiff and yup she was running rich, so i leaned it out with the mixture screw and also wound the idle down a tad, well now she aint likeing it at all, i only tunred the mixture screw 1/4 of a turn. but now it missies pops sputters and generaly not happy and feels a lack of power,

Now im thinking that maybe my points and condensor need replacing soon as well and its a 00hell ( yes i know they dont like or work toggehter with out playing with them but its all i got for now)

so any ideas what the problem could be, could it be just that i need to run that bit richer with the 00hell, or is it something else, btw ive gone from 30mpg to 27ish

Also i noticed that the engine was rather warm before i alterd the mixture now the fan shroud is a lot cooler and that was after a longer run. if that helps.

You need to adjust the carb according to the procedure listed in the Bentley manual.  If you do this, it will run perfectly and not stink out your followers.
