Cam change

Since the winter months are fast approaching I find myself thinking of another winter project for my 2332. I have been battling a cooling issue this past summer. My plans with this engine was to have a 12 second pumpgas car on radial tires that I can drive almost anywhere. Well I accomplished that goal and have clicked off a 12.72 & 104 with a 1.7 60ft on radials and pumpgas. All except for the drive anywhere part. I can drive this car all day if I run 55 or 60 but id like to be able to drive it on a 2 or 3 hr trip @ 65 or 70 but if I run faster my oil temps are rising to 210+.
So with that in mind I have bought me a 96 pass cooler with fan/thermostat and I am going to try bumping my compression down a half of a point to see what happens. I hope this gets me into the more driveable area. Currently after a while of driving at 70 or so and then when I slow down and lug the engine I hear faint pinging so hopefully the compression drop will take care of this.
I also plan to hone my cylinders and try a set of total seal 2nd rings and I am also going to have my head porter open up my CB big beef Wedgeport manifolds all the way up to try and get more airflow.
The main reason for posting this is I have thought about changing cams. I'd like to know what cams you guys have used with a combination like mine. I have an 86C as of now and I love the cam from 3500 and up, but below that it doesn't have much to offer. I highly suggest it for anyone who wants an all out street and strip car. I just see the strip maybe 3 times a year.
Current combo is a Alum cased 2332 with 94 mahles, 44x37 CB Wedgeports and matching manifolds, 10.3 comp, 44idfs with 38 vents, 1 5/8 header with 2.5" stainless empi phatboy knockoff, Scat 36hp Doghouse shroud, german cylinder covers, stock oil cooler. Tranny is 4.12 KB ring and pinion, super diff, super beetle mainshaft, 1.37 3rd and stock .89 4th
Made 151 wheel HP @ 6300 and 147 Wheel torque @ 4700. With muffler and belt
I'd love to lay down 170 or so but I can't see it happening with what I have and it be reliable to drive anywhere.
What do you guys think about going to say an 86B or K8? Am I going to lose a good deal of power or will I see my powerband just move to a lower RPM. I've even thought about advancing my 86C 4 deg and trying that but I just worry about the 86C wearing out my guides a lot sooner as I have heard they are rougher on the valvetrain.
Suggestions..........

I would definatley run the cam advanced like you mentioned (Doug Berg explained to me how he likes to run cams advanced since the exhaust helps pull in the intake mixture), then I would definately have the manifolds welded and ported all the way up (probably giving up 10-15 or so HP right there with the bottle neck restriction) then larger carbs like 48 Dells IDFs or IDAs and even a 1 3/4" header with those big heads and big displacement. That should get you to the 170 with your set up, and 210 on the oil is ok.

Timing and jetting change and rap your headers and close your engine compartment from heat coming in and drop comp to 10+1. Might not help you but helped me. My temp went from 220 to 200 after a hard day but of course a hard run is only 35mls one way but it's still 20 degs.

Mate! I used a k8 in my 2332 9.3 comp with a 96 plate cooler and thermo fan 32 advance on 98ron. Never heated up over 180 while driving free way speeds for a couple of hours.
Easy on valves, great drivability
