OK I have seen "bump" on other topics here and other forums but I haven't progressed from ignorance to inlightenment for the meanig/use of this strange and bewildering word.
Could someone fill me in on this ancient mystery?

"Bump" usually means the post is only serving to bump the thread to the top of the list in the forum. This is often a way to attract attention to the thread; also, if the thread manages to slip to page 2, it's as good as over and never to be seen again.

As well as the usage of "ttt" which stands for To The Top - same purpose of the Bump

Most "bumping" I've seen is for either parts or vehicles for sale (on other forums).  It brings new life to old threads.

Some folks add texting terms that sometimes confuse non-texters like me.

Common  AFAIK (as far as I know),  IIRC (if I recall correctly), TIA (thanks in advance), etc.

FWIW, those acronyms predate texting.

Thanks for the clarification.  I'm 45 and don't text on my iPhone.
