Promach, I've got to say it looks like a top notch job on the work. Are you going to run a turbo or normally aspirated? You say your c/r is around 19:1 on alky ??The stuff likes compression. BRE..BILL

Let's see if it's going to play ball
Have honed out the lifter bores made the locking screws to keep them straight in the bores

From the picture of the inside of the lifter bores it seems like you use the locking screws on both sides? Is that correct?
Thanks for the pics. As I don't know V8 engines (which use the rollers more often), I learn a lot!

The locking screws are from one side only , the other hole you see is the oil hole

Yes, of course, thank you!
The alu case has enough side load wear caracteristics for the heavy springs you will use? Was a silicon-bronze insert ever an option?
Do you know what your roller followers weigh?
Thanks!

Alot of the 4 cylinder speedway motors like the cesco mopar run the lifters staight in the alloy block and do not suffer wear, Cam buckets in OHC engines run on alloy in 1000's of production engine and 12,500rpm race motors such as the infinti IRL engines. Lubrication and design will determine the life.

Just a thought, but wondered why you don't use some tried and true off the shelf parts like cross linked Chevy or Mopar roller lifters ? It would save a lot of machine work and $$. The blown V 8 boyz don't seem to have any problems with them. What kind of compression are you going to put in it ? BRE BILL

I had some crower roller lifters that t didn't like how they located in the bore .These used two raised bosses on the side of the body the way we have put the lower part of the block together does't allow us to use any "linked" lifters Right now it looks as if the compression will add up to 19:1 with a flat piston in it

Great job on a fantastic looking head. Would like to see more pics if possible.
Can you share some of the details on the head such as valve size, Minimum Cross Section, Average Cross Section, and air speed over the short side radius?
What bore size are you going to run in the final engine configuration and at what bore size was the head flowed at?
I have always wanted to know how a really well tuned VW style head would stack up against a typical V-8 race head.
If you don't want to share that data openly, you can PM me here.
Thanks for your time and keep us all posted on the progress.
Rob

Up date
We are still pluging away at this will have the first head due back this week ,this model looks about 315 hp based on the early flow numbers the head that is state side looks to be around the 345 mark We had the spindle fail on the mill this took 4 wks to have repaired , has put us further behind but do have a new Okuma mill due in three weeks time Have started putting in a dyno room So by all counts we will have photos up this week Have some very good video coming of some parts that Harry has been writing code for this will be posted on Pro Machining.com

Thanks have been working this week on the injectors . we don't have that much more to do..... problem is time and money aren't on the same page if we stop to finish it the output of the shop comes up short , have a big project that we have 8 weeks to finish and we must be a little over half way into it and have on this thing for the best part of a year We will have some more photos up later today/ tomorrow along with a new video of machining a crank which has some interesting moves in it

Well I"ve finally found some time to get a bit more done. Over the weekend I got to work on and complete the rocker covers. From billet aluminium of course. Will have pics to post of the fuel injectors once they get back from anodising.
