Got the '70 back today. No more sky high front end. I had the front lowered (I could stand for it to be about 1/2" lower, but I'm waiting to see if the new KYB's settle in some first), new brakes all around, new tires, some supsension upgrades and new wheels and tires.
It went from basically stock to a nice stance with caster shims, 3/4" sway bars front and rear, discs up front with upgraded pads, new drums out back with Better Binders, genuine 2.0L alloys fresh from the polisher and new tires; 175/65/15 up front and 205/65/15 out back.
It's VERY tight now and handles great. The stopping power is amazing compared to 36 year old drums. I have new hoses all around and new fluid, too. The local shop also did some adjustments to the steering box and I had a good alignment done.

That looks really nice. I've got the same wheels and tire sizes except my fronts are 185/65. What make did you find the 175/65s in?

Thanks guys. I still wish it was a "taaaad" lower, but it sits nice and rides and handles well.
The tires are Continental ContiTouring Contacts. They're original eqiupment on the standard new Minis (not the Coopers). I got them from Discount Tire for $76 each. The rears are also from Discount Tire and are one of their brands; Barum Bravarus, made by Michelin. They're a V rated tire for around $65 each.
