I know Beaver Springs can be a place you love to hate, but...

The Bug Blast is this coming Sunday, and I'm planning on racing.  Is there anyone else reading here that is going?

No, going to Etowns NHRA Sportcompact race, try to get a Wally. Have fun, as we have never been there. Look for a guy with an orange 73 bug with a big turbo sticking out of it,Tim from new york. If it hooks up, could see mid 10's out of it.

I know of a few people from MD that are coming.  Dunebuggy Dale will be there with his Pro Mod Buggy, The Rodriguez Boyz I hear are coming from New York / New Jersey area, Virgil Prehn with his street Super Beetle (the man to beat in street class - has won more trophies than I have underwear), Also hear the Lee brothers will be coming with there with a sweet looking (and fast) pro mod and I will be bring my 68 Red Turbo Bug.

Hey Mike, I'm most likely leaving from Hershey, so I'll see ya there.  I can't wait to see the black car and its new look.

Good to see a little response.  If I can get a few small things done to my car, I'll hit the track.

For you super pro guys you might get lucky and win some money. I don't think Bruce Ridgeway will be there. I could be wrong though. He might be attending North vs South this sunday instead since he is now in the SEVWA Points Chase.

I'm almost certian No Glass Act (Bruce Ridgeway) will be at North vs. South. It still looks like a fun day of racing and the weather looks like it's going to cooperate.

Hey Mike, see you there. I'm staying in Danville tonight so I'll be there bright and early. Any of you from the forum guys please say hi, I'll have the Ghia that's in the avatar on the left.

Not quite into the Super Pro class yet! I had a blast there last fall.

Mike, I'm in "upstate" NY and won't be leaving till after my son's BB game, around 6:00. It would be cool to watch you thrash on your car :-), I won't be in Danville till about 9pm, though. Staying at the Red Roof Inn. Maybe give me a call on my cell around 8pm and we'll chat? 914-447-2761.

BTW, when I read this post I told my buddy Roland Metz that you were going and he said you have a bitchin convertible and to say "Hi".

Great to see you again Mike H and nice to meet you and your buddy, Mike M. That vert is piece of art!

Low turnout, twenty race cars. Mostly regular die hards. Saw a few 6 second 1/8 mile passes.

My own program is very embarassing, but I ain't to proud to tell the world.  On the last time shot the engine died at about 330'. I coasted to the turnout, got towed to the pits. Popped the valve covers to see if my No. 1 enemy, Mr. Valve Train F&ckage had returned but it looked good in there. Pumped the throttle shafts and got squirt. Engine seemed a little hard to crank over by hand. Called it "spun bearing" and got help pushing onto the trailer. Called it a day.

I put three gallons of 108 in the tank at etown last month. I made about a dozen passes since then. The gas gauge hasn't worked right. On the long drive home I got to thinking maybe I ran it out of gas. The Holley and steel hard lines make a lot of noise. When I got home I ran the pump and it didn't sound like fuel was going through the lines. I put some gas in, ran the pump and heard the usual noises fuel makes when it makes its way through the empty line in the tunnel. It fired right up.

What an idiot!

Hey Don, I saw you getting towed back and was hoping it was nothing bad.  By the time I made it back to the pits you had pulled out, sorry I missed ya leaving.  At least that is a pretty cheap fix!

Nice day for a race, low turnout as mentioned.  That red turbo Bug really ran hard.

I actually had a good day, until I made it to the semis, final 4 cars and I blew the 1-2 shift.  The other guy was on his game and I couldn't stay ahead.  Oh well.  I chopped the tree down in the first round and scored a bye run in the second.  That's always a nice feeling.

Really great to see Mike get his 'vert out there on the track.  I have a few pics I'll post a little later.

Look at that mop on your head dude!!!....
Wish I could let my hair grow like that. My boss is too "old school" for any hippies working for him...

Sorry I couln't make it out. I feel bad every time I miss that race. I know turnout isn't always the best and I wish I could do more to participate.
I will be out for the Fall event.
It's always a good race. Beaver Bob keeps things rolling nice. I like the way they run that track...

Hey Don, it was cool to meet you sorry I had to leave early. I had such a good time running my car instead of cleaning it all day and just watching the racing. I was happy with how the car ran, now I can't wait to run something that is fast! My best time was a 16.30 in the quarter leaving pretty late Wink I definetly need to practice my reaction time....Oh and thanks for the compliments on my big hair and my car Shocked

Is there anyone who could provide a quick rundown on how the event went, round-by-round results of the drag racing and some pictures?  I wanted to add an article on to my website, Air Cooled Drag Racing Magazine (http://aircooleddragracing.blogspot.com). If anybody can help out please email me at jlculley@gmail.com.  Thanks.

Jason, go to www.beaversprings.com, try emailing the track.  They seem to be very good about pictures and results on their site, but nothing from Sunday is up yet.  I didn't see the track photog there, so I'm not sure if there will be an update or not?
