just curious and after reading about some of the issues with kennedy's clutch's it has me looking for another brand. my friend just put one of these in his 800h.p. camaro and was just wondering if anyone runs one in a bug with some power.

Marty, just call Art Thraen and get a Copperhead disc and let him sell you stage 1 a pressure plate. If it's a KEP then you know it's a good one.

been reading a few older posts and see how many people have had problems with kennedy's stuff. this spec clutch is supposely one of the best out there. my friend runs one in his camaro and in his 911 porsche which is making 800 crazy rear wheel horsepower. i am pulling the motor because yesterday i let my friend that has all this high horsepower stuff take it for a ride to kind of shut him up in a way and he went a little crazy shifting it at 7200 and the clutch i believe collapsed the pressure plate. so i looked into this brand and they make one for our cars so it might be a good alternative to the KEP. not a bad price either with free shipping. i was just wondering if anyone here has tried it and what their thoughts where.

My car has a Kennedy 1700 lb. pressure plate and Berg/Centerforce dual-friction disc.  Works great for many years.

oh believe me i would much rather spend less money but i have seen so many people here say they they think the new product from KEP is being out sourced. and i really don't wanna do this again for sometime.

I'd say try it! A little competition never hurt anybody and you might discover it's a better product.

When Art built my 2180 he had me step down from a Stage 2 to a Stage 1. It has a softer pedal and does not slip. I trust what he sells because he uses the same parts on his street car.

Last year I did a top-end rebuild on my 1776 (213k miles) and also replaced the old Berg dual-friction clutch disk for the Art Thraen Aircooled Engineering Copperhead disc, resurfaced the old style Kennedy 3-finger 1700lb clutch plate and Berg flywheel:

Every time I'm at the swap meet, I buy the old 3-finger style Kennedy clutch plate.
Seems to be more reliable than the diaphram ones.

I wouldn't give two cents for a KEP diaphragm pressure plate.  I had problems with two of them and had them rebuilt and sold them both.  I currently have a F&S heavy duty pressure plate and it has worked well for me.  The KEP had parts that were not of the right temper/hardness.

You are probably right Glenn.  You have a late style without the ring for the throwout bearing.  Mine is an early and that little ring was soft compared to a F & S.  Something like 17 on the Rockwell C scale.  It ended up being chewed by the fingers and filled the bell housing with rusty powdery residue.  Really messed things up.  My F & S works fine for my application although it was a little pricey.  I still prefer the old style 3 finger type.  At lease you can adjust the height.

well it's been awhile since i had looked or rememebered what setup i had and today i got it all apart. after looking back at my reciepts i bought all of it from serranos back in '05. it is a kennedy stage 2 with i think was supposed to be a kush lock disc. i think it was a china made piece of crap that he called a kush lock cause it sheared the asbestos right of the engine side of the disc. so the copperhead disc is out for me cause art recommends a stage one. and i have low funds. maybe i will go with a daiken disc this time around or something a little better that i can run with the stage 2.

Should I ask how much HP your making -- the daikin is good -- I'm gonna see if it will hold 400Hp with an   O  L  D    KEP stage 2

Check the date of the PP LOL

I ran that setup on my 2275 turbo with an lightened OEM flywheel, worked flawlessly, was dynoed at 400 hp by Dave and Judy Kawell.  I didn't develope any clutch problems ( slippage) untill I changed to a CM flywheel.

I'm getting ready to do the same thing.. I can't even put my foot into the peddle right now without blow'n by the Ole stage 1 dual friction setup... Luck for me I just reinforced the clutch tube and got a couple extra clutch arms in the tool box... That's why I went back to a stage 1 in the first place....
