New to the site but not to the VW scene.  Built this motor about 6 or 7 years ago, made a pass in Sac. 11.79 at 110, and was serging from about half track.  Might have been on the track one other time.  Have had a lot of problems and have just played with it a little over the years.  Time to start driving and enjoying it again.  The turbo set up is from Staggs.  I really need some help on the carb, mains, airs, Idles, pump jet, squirters, the works.  Whats are you guys using that works?  Mike I know i have beat you over the head with this, and Im just not ready to give up on the side draft. thanks guys.

I got a 40mm side draft.
Jetting is 70 idles.
180 mains
170 airs with turbo emultion tubes.
fuel pressure is boost referenced. (this is a must do for side draft carbs).

Tom, thanks for the info. My fuel pressure is also boost referenced. What pump, reg, and how much pressure do you have at idle and what do you think you have under boost?

Anybody know of a tell tell sign that would tell me my carb has been "turbo prepped"? Income from Marty with the rest of my turbo setup, and I'm sure it is but form own knowledge I'd like to rule that out for problems that I'm having.

I run 1 1/2psi under vacuum. Then under boost, fuel pressure follows boost pressure all the way to about 14psi.
I run a carter rotary (14psi) pump with standard Holley regulator (1-4psi). Modified for boost ref.

Turbo mods:
Turbo emultion tubes (they look just like regular ones, only they don't have any holes drilled in the middle section). They are essetially a "blank" tube with holes for the air jets at the top and main jets at the bottom only.

enlarged fuel passages to jet well. Hard to see unless you know what to look for.

Larger fuel inlet valves. (stamped on side of brass housing). 2.5mm minimum.

No inlet screen filter, inlet passages opend up.

70 pump squiters (turbo's need lost of accel pump shot).

Tom, wow that's some great info. Now I can check my carb out and see what's going on. I know for a fact I don't have turbo e tubes. Matter of fact at one time I even had some with the center holes opened up. What's the reason for have no center holes? Thanks for the help its been great.

No holes in the middle section makes them stay lean until top end, then they go super rich.
If you look at they way they rate E-tubes they talk about low end, midrange, and top end fuel curves.
The turbo tubes are "Lean, Lean, Rich" on the comparison charts.

I have made my own turbo e-tubes by soldering up all the holes in the middle section. they work fine that way.

When I looked those e tubes up on the CB site, they mentioned for use in a pressurized carb, wouldn't that mean for a blow through system?
