I have a 40 hp I want to put in my baja project until I get the 1915 put together. Only problem is I have an IRS trans and the 40hp is a 6volt. Is it possible to put a 12v flywheel on a 40hp crank so I can use my 12v starter etc.?? I know the 6v flywheel doesn't have an o-ring where the 12v does. Do I disregard the oring and use the paper gasket?

you can get a 12v starter with 6v gear  Bill and Steves in Downey can get it. 562 923-3251  or you can just use the 6v with 12v power and spin it fast untill other engine is done.

What about the bushing in the trans. Do they make a 12v to 6v bushing? I have seen 6v to 12v ones

I'm not 100% sure, but I think a 200mm flywheel will fit the end of a 64mm crank.  I know there are CW 64mm cranks out there used in high performance applications with 200mm flywheels.  So I'd say give it a shot, especially if you have a spare FW laying around and the engine is laying around.  If it works, be sure to set the end play and use the o-ring.

I was thinking it would work. I thought only difference was the 69mm cranks were designed for the o-ring and the 64mm wasn't so therefore you just use the paper gasket over the dowels on a 40hp instead of the o-ring. I may try it and see what happens. If she comes loose then I am not out nothing but a 40hp.
