Ok, a local group is running a program at an oval track near me-S.E. Ct., called " The 100 Foot Drags". It's pretty much what it sounds like, 100 foot  "racing", timed, with dial ins and eliminations. So far, there haven't been any A/C VW's there as ( I think) it's only been happening one year. There are only a very, very small amount of air cooled cars in the area that have any perfomance potential at all, (mine included), so that opens the door for a good education for the water cooled crowd! Our last in state drag strip closed down in 4/1984, and the closest facility is 3-4  hours away, not a lot by some standards, but it is inconvenient for frequent racing, never mind breakdowns on a street driven car. Now, not having run my "67 at a strip since 1984, and there wasn't a 60 foot timer at the track anyway, what could I expect to run in a 100 foot strip, having run a 13.88 ( not sure of the trap speed now) years ago?  On the website (100FOOTDRAGS.COM) they have some approximate times of 1.7secs to 1.8 seconds for cars capable of a mid 8 1/4 mile time, and 1.8 - 1.9 for a 10.1 car. I'm hoping that I can have some fun once again and not break too many parts in my '67 that hasn't been on the road since 2002! Sad

that is all we have within 2-3 hours drive.
This is our local club results.

http://www.streetwheelers.com/100ftdash/results.php

the 2007 true street results have a 69 beetle with a 2275cc that was running low 13's at the time. his 100 footer was 2.636 at 44.27MPH.

It usually draws 3000 spectators for the afternoon, and there is always the chance for something going boom.

You should sweep the floor with all of the front wheel drive cars. Have fun.

Yeah, from what I've heard there are a lot of fwd cars in attendance. I think there is a lot more in my car, but I've only put 5000 street miles on it since '84, without a chance to bring it to another strip. The last time I ran it I thought I was doing ok, but when I got home I checked the IDA's and the butterflies were only opening half way! Yeah, the one thing I always checked I hadn't when I installed the tall Skat-trak manifolds (and yes they were ported fully ALL the way to the top).
