It’s strange to realize that Cal-Look.com has been around since 1999. Last year, as we looked back within our team at 10 years online, it was with mixed emotions; a lot of good times and new friends were made along the way, with many things to be proud of. We were also frustrated that we had outgrown our previous design, as it was no longer meeting our users’ wants or needs. Or, to be frank, ours. It was clear that we needed something new, and the lengthy process began, occupying a lot of our time.
While we have undertaken two major site revisions in the past, it has become increasingly challenging to do so, as the site has grown in complexity and the demands of our users have increased. It’s like trying to build a completely new house, room by room, without destroying the old one. After 9 months of countless design ideas, testing and retesting, we’re ready to go live.
We believe that the new Cal-Look.com reflects where the Internet is heading, accommodating much more content with easier navigation and a fresh design. Most important, the new site enables easier updates and team work, something that the old design struggled to do. We’ve added a lot of new content, and I encourage you to spend some time navigating the links in our main page in detail. The Cal-Look.com Toolbar at the bottom of the page is one my favourites, especially the link housing the collection of Cal-Look related YouTube videos.
But what matters, of course, is your opinion, and I’d love to hear from you.
Thanks for a great 10 years. We feel very fortunate to have been a part of this hobby, and look forward to serving you going forward.
NOTE: In the coming days we will be debugging the new site – there may be a few issues here and there which effect functionality and navigation but all will be resolved ASAP. Please feel free to notify us of any problems. Thank you for your patience.
