As promised in our last newsletter, the summer edition of The Cal-Look Times, we have made changes to the Mark Herbert Memorial Top 10/20 Contests. Here are the highlights:
- We’re having a one-month blitz on the contest, and all entries must be submitted by January 31st, 2010. What a great way to chase away the winter blues!
- ¼ mile times submitted must have been run during 2009
- We are bringing back prizes, thanks to the generosity of our long-term supporters, which include the following:
- 1 Copperhead clutch disc from Aircooled Engineering (http://www.aircooledengineering.com)
- 2, 1-year magazine subscriptions to Ultra VW Magazine (http://www.ultravw.com)

- Winners will receive trophy plaques, and all finalists will receive dash plaques

We will also be tracking The Fastest Countries this year, grouping finalists by their country. Who will reign? If the trend in recent years repeats itself, we will need to retire the term Cal-Look and change it to Euro-Look. Will the Americans – and especially Californians – rest on the laurels of prior decades or step up and take ownership of the legendary name?
We will keep a running tally of entries on the Forum on Cal-Look.com. Final results will be published in The Cal-Look Times and VW magazine(s). Winners will also star in their own reality series on Cal-Look TV (CLTV), and should be prepared to fend off groupies and autograph hounds.
